About the event
“Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” These words are familiar to us at the beginning of Holy Week, particularly on Palm Sunday. On Sunday, April 13th, the choir will present the Lenten cantata “Forsaken,” composed by Mark Hayes. This performance recounts the events of the four days from the streets of Jerusalem to Jesus’ time with His disciples praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, reflecting on Judas' betrayal. “Forsaken” commemorates the final days of God’s Messiah. Accompanied by piano, organ, and a small ensemble of instruments, listeners will embark on an emotional journey from the triumphal entry to the cries of “crucify Him,” culminating in the powerful finale, “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.” The program will begin at 3 pm in the sanctuary of West End Baptist / Suffolk Presbyterian, followed by a reception with light refreshments.
